Friday Mar 12/2010 - Gisborne record victory's in 1st two games

Gisborne Masters hosted a Gisborne seniors "Intraclub" match and then played two games themselves against Craigieburn. It is with great pleasure that I report that our 47's played their 1st game and were successful in overcoming their Craigieburn foes. The Game was played in good spirit and it was pleasing that our fellows had enough numbers to hand the opposition some players which augers well for the season ahead.
The 35's then took the field and albeit that they were a bit rusty were able to outlast the Craigieburn team and post a 1st up win. Also pleasing were the amount of numbers that showed up on the night with Gisborne having enough to do without Kempy (Who coach from the line) and Stan (who did not need much persuasion to run the bar, oh and have a couple of quiet ales himself) along with many others who werre unavailable.
Seems as though we have found some more quality players (Along with Angry who returns after a knee reco) with at least three new Doggies playing well amongst the usual suspects, Bretty, Rosco, Gav Penny.

Thursday Oct 1 - Saturday October 10 AFL Masters National Carnical - Cairns

This years National Masters carnival in Cairns saw Gisborne take 17 players and approx 6 support staff for a wonderfull mix of Footy and "Liver Damage". The carnival was topped by the 35's who broke an 11 year hoodoo in winning their division and the 45's albeit that they were able to overcome the opposition in all three games, missed out by a poultry 2 goals against in winning the flag in their division.
Special mentions must go out to "Carnival Virgin" Brett Taylor who won the Vic Country B & F in the Premiership side as well as gaining All Australian selection in the 35's, as well as Peter Hoyne who was selected as All Australian in the 45's age group.
I am sure all who went would agree that it was a fantastic trip and can't wait until next year in Canberra.

Sunday 23th August 2009  Gisborne Bulldogs V Bendigo

Gisborne played host to Bendigo at Gardiner Reserve, the Bulldogs started well and kicked 5 goals to nil in the first quarter. The engine room was back to it's best with Ross Johns adn the ever reliable Brett Taylor combining to win the ball out of the centre, Again and again.
Gisborne were never headed all day and went on to win 21.15 to Bendigo 5.2, better players for Gisborne were Matt Mudge who started on the bench, however showed great reliability on the half back line. Rosco and Bretty were also better players. The game ended in a bit of a farce with everyone lining up to kick a goal, goal kickers included  Stan Prater, karl Feist, Tony Andrews and albeit he kicked a couple of goals Chris "Pretty Boy" Staley received the "Mug of the Week" for his attempted goal in the goalsquare. lets just say it was the most "unco" attempt at goal anyone had ever seen.

Sunday 9th August 2009  Gisborne Bulldogs V Moorabool Valley
Gisborne played host to Moorabool Valley at Gardiner Reserve, the team were soundly beaten by a more hungry Moorabool outfit.  After two quick goals by Gisborne in the opening minutes of the 1st quarter Moorabool took over and ran the ball well all day kicking on strongly and winning by a healthy sum.
Better players for Gisborne were Danny Klaesson with 4 goals, the ever reliable John "Stan" Prater worked effortlessly at full back and the "Mug of the week" went to Leigh Callaway who played on from a free kick, however forgot to look at the player who was running past him who was in fact one of our Moorabool opponents Ha Ha Ha Ha.
